Pine Castle Pioneer, Thomas Etty, was a citrus grower in the 1800s. He was one of the few English Colonists that survived the Florida freezes of 1894 and 1895. This commissioned work was based on an antique photograph that depicts Etty with his grandson, Gene Hancock, on the porch of the family home. The work was commissioned by the Pine Castle Pioneer Days organization as the signature art for the 2021 Pioneer Days Festival. Reference photograph: curtsey of Leah W Greely.
It is always my creative intention to complete a work with no other medium other than pure watercolor. This painting made the grade!
